KAZA, Botswana receive praise as elephants make red list

A global conservation body recently listed African elephants as endangered, sparking local concerns over the future of elephant hunts.

Following the publication on the African Elephant Specialist Group (AfESG) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) published here - https://www.iucn.org/news, that it will now treat African elephants as two species, i.e., the forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) and the savannah elephant (Loxodonta africana) based on evidence of genetic hybridization, among other factors, the Botswana based newspaper, Mmegi has spoken to some stakeholders and experts with reference to KAZA TFCA – home to the largest elephant population.
