The Organization

The Discover the Kavango Zambezi - KAZA Tourism, Conservation, Safaris area across 5 countries of Angola, Bostwana, Namibia, Zambia and ZimbabweSecretariat is th designated entity established by the KAZA Partner States to manage the day-to-day operations of the TFCA. Its overall mandate is to develop KAZA TFCA into a world-class conservation area and premier tourism destination. This mandate is executed under the guidance of the KAZA Partner States with support from development partners and a consortium of stakeholders. The Secretariat is a multi-cultural working environment.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced nationals of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe for the following positions.

Project Manager

Based in Katima Mulilo. Namibia. Hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism
2-Year Contract

This is a project management position for a new United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) funded project to support joint law enforcement governance and operations at TFCA level, initially focused on the Kwando Wildlife Dispersal Area. The project is jointly implemented by the KAZA Secretariat and Peace Parks Foundation (PPF). This position reports to the Technical Coordinator Wildlife Crimes with full delegated managerial responsibility for project implementation and monitoring. An excellent mix of project management and monitoring is essential.

Specific tasks: 

  • Project administration and governance
  • Project Implementation
  • Project monitoring and reporting

Requirements:

  • At least a university degree or equivalent in project management and/or business. A graduate qualification or higher, preferably in wildlife conservation, project management and business, or a commercial sciences degree or project management certification will be advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years’ project management experience and at least 3 years’ work experience in the management of projects in the field of conservation and/or government environments.

Communication and Marketing Officer

Based in Kasane

3-Year Contract (with possibility or renewal)

The Postcode Dutch Lottery, through the WWF, will fund this position for the duration of the Dream Fund Project. Although a project-funded position, the scope of work will be broader than the project. The incumbent will provide leadership on KAZA’s communication and marketing activities. The position is under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager.

Requirements:

  • At least a university degree in either communications, marketing, public relations, media relations, or other related fields
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years’ experience in communication and marketing, as well as demonstrated knowledge of traditional and new media platforms for communication to different target audiences.

Remuneration:Negotiable and competitive based on qualifications and experience. Contracts for the positions are renewable, subject to the organisational human resources policy and performance. Successful candidates will be subject to a probation period of six months.
